Private Equity International: Asset Allocation – Time to Think Impact

This month, Private Equity International‘s Responsible Investment Special features an op-ed by Bridges partner Clara Barby, looking at why (and how) more institutional investors should allocate to impact investment.

Last year, Clara (who heads our Impact+ advisory group) co-authored the asset allocation paper produced as part of the G8 Taskforce on Social Investment. In this article, she draws on that work to argue that allocating to impact now represents a compelling opportunity for investors: it allows them to better align their portfolios with their values, to spot areas of rapid growth, and to identify potentially less correlated investments – which could lead to better risk-adjusted financial returns over time, in addition to greater societal impact.

Clara also looks at how governments can remove barriers to progress, and explains how some pioneering institutions are building their impact investment capability.
